About the work

The IUCN (The World Conservation Union) compiles a so-called Red List of threatened species every 2 years. The status of thousands of plant and animal species is examined. Since the mid-20th century, the extinction of species has risen explosively due to habitat destruction, over-exploitation, the introduction of foreign species, diseases, pollution, and global warming. Scientists believe that half of all animals and plants will be extinct by 2100.
